Professional support for practitioners and students working as counsellors and psychotherapists. Supervision can deal with practical and professional concerns that arise as a result of your working practice. We can look at emotional issues and how to maintain personal well being, when in service to others.
Supervision can be a very important process for people in any caring work. I also offer this to those working in other therapeutic and complementary fields, teaching and health professions. It provides an outlet to talk about the implications of caring for and treating others, a chance to offload feelings and thoughts that can build up, and to cut through the isolation that can accompany this. It provides creative and emotional input, which is essential to minimise overload and burnout.
I have worked as a supervisor since 1990 with individual practitioners, groups, training programmes and organisations. The Core Process and Person Centred models influence my style.
I offer a programme of Professional Development workshop for psychotherapists, counsellors and practitioners.
Training modules include: workshops in psychotherapy, counselling, communication skills, assertiveness training, stress management, bodywork, movement and creative process. The format can range from introductory days, inputs that are part of other training programmes, to more extensive work, which may be on an ongoing basis.
I have worked as a freelance trainer from 1984 and have extensive experience, including: eight years with the Cornwall and Devon Staff Accredited Training Centre; ten years as a co-designer of and core tutor on the Plymouth University - Professional Counsellor Training Programmes.
If you are interested in organising a workshop or module, please contact me for further details.
